Splash! Splash!
Drip! Drip! Drip!
Open up your umbrellas,
It's raining colours!
Sidewalks glistening and shining,
I can see my purple reflection
Grinning back at me.
Orange leaves clog street drains,
Flooding in fuchsia.
Deep puddles form;
Staining my feet green, blue, violet
As I jump and splash.
I stick out my tongue,
Catching rainbows in my mouth.
Children run outside,
Yellow raincoats, red rubber boots,
Reaching towards a water-filled sky.
The rain touches everything;
Cars and buildings and trees
Become blended in colours,
People everywhere, dancing in the streets,
Black, white, brown, red,
Now magenta, maroon, indigo, orange.
Everyone smiles;
Teeth no longer white.
Colours leak into every corner,
Spreading and spreading.
Oh, milky clouds against pink sky,
Do not part!
Leave the golden sun hidden for now,
Keep raining on us!
My friends will find the deepest puddles
And we will jump and splash,
Until everything is
Rainbow! Rainbow! Rainbow!
